Celebrating the 4-year anniversary of the “Best Ever” Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup returns this year to Paris, marking only the second time it has been hosted in mainland Europe in the history of the tournament. There is just one day to go until competition play, which sees the best golfers in America take on Europe's finest to defend their 2016 win.

This year marks four years since the 40^th Ryder Cup at the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder in which SecuriGroup was the sole security provider. On the eve of this year's Ryder Cup we take a moment to look back at the fantastic success of the 2014 event. 

A Ryder Cup in Scotland, the Home of Golf, was always going to be special and the 2014 Ryder Cup was one of the world's largest ever sporting events, watched by more than 2 billion people.

Across the year-long build up to, and throughout the event, SecuriGroup deployed more than 1,000 staff across more than 100,000 hours of security provision. During the competition days, SecuriGroup searched and screened more than 250,000 people through the airport-style search regimes – exceeding the number passing through London Stansted Airport during the same period. The fantastic success of the event was down to a highly collaborative approach between all stakeholders including the European Tour, SecuriGroup, Police Scotland and all other organisations involved in logistics. 

SecuriGroup delivered above and beyond what we expected. The team was an asset to the Ryder Cup and as ambassadors to the 250,000 people that crossed its path from all around the world.  SecuriGroup were big enough to cope with the sheer size and scale of the Ryder Cup – balanced with their high-level expertise.   It has been an absolute pleasure to work with SecuriGroup and they should feel a huge sense of satisfaction in what has been achieved.
