SecuriGroup Attend Largest CSSC Briefing in London

SecuriGroup is proud to have been part of the CSSC Breakfast Briefing and AGM which was held at the end of June 2018.

Information sharing initiative CSSC held its largest briefing meeting to date in central London, providing delegates with a detailed update about CSSC's progress over the past year.

It included additional presentations by public sector and policing partners, and was attended by industry sector leads (ISLs) from across the UK.

"I was fortunate to attend the CSSC breakfast briefing and AGM held in London on 22 June. We received high-level updates from top people on the most challenging terrorist and crime topics.

"As part of the network, I am now sharing the information and insights across the SecuriGroup internal and external networks.

"The AGM highlighted the amazing volunteers involved in CSSC, improving safety and security through information sharing.

"SecuriGroup is very proud to be part of such a great initiative."

The meeting was opened by Sir David Veness, co-chair of the CSSC Consultative Board, who set out a vision focused on a three-year horizon that would most likely see the threat from terrorism in the UK diversify and evolve.

Commander Simon Bray of the Metropolitan Police Service reiterated the depth and breadth of current threats and gave an overview of some of the latest tools, strategies and initiatives being deployed by police to combat these threats.

Subsequent presentations included the following:

• an overview of the communications tools developed by the National Counter Terrorism Policing HQ to engage with specific demographic groups such as young people, holidaymakers, etc;
• an update on how gun and knife crime is being tackled, particularly in London;
• a perspective from the Home Office;
• an explanation about Operation Servator and how it is deployed.

In addition, after an introduction by Don Randall, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for CSSC, four of the regional chairs provided an update about the notable momentum and progress in the Eastern & South Eastern, South West & Wales, East Midlands and Scottish regions.

The meeting concluded successfully with the formal business of the CSSC's Annual General Meeting.
