Working closely with partner agencies such as Barnardo's Scotland, Community Safety Glasgow and Police Scotland, SecuriGroup has been included in a Night Time Economy Working Group focused on the issue of Child Sexual Exploitation.
This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the work done by our partner agencies in one of Police Scotland's key campaigns. We will be working alongside a number of other organisations such as Community Safety Glasgow, the Security Industry Authority, and the British Transport Police.
SecuriGroup is currently in the process of rolling out Project Protect. This is a SecuriGroup-led training course which is bolted onto our existing Vulnerable Persons Bystander Training. It is being led by Brian McLaughlin and Jamie Storer, who have been heavily involved in delivering similar courses with Police Scotland.
In our experience, providing our front line staff with the tools to identify such issues has been very effective. Focusing on raising awareness, our comprehensive training course assists in identifying the signs of CSE and effectively manage any situations where CSE is identified.
The Night Time Economy Working Group is chaired by Daljeet Dagon, the National Programme Manager for Child Sexual Exploitation with Barnardo's Scotland. It has provided the diverse range of stakeholders with a platform to share and discuss best practice.
Child Sexual Exploitation is a difficult and complex issue, however these are discussions which must be had. We are proud to be working with other organisations to achieve tangible progress in tackling this difficult problem.
On Tuesday 1st of August, we hosted the first pilot session with management personnel from JD Wetherspoon. This allowed Brian and Jamie to road test the content, ensuring it was clear, impactful and fit for purpose.
It is now our plan to offer this training to SecuriGroup staff. Our initial target is to train more than 250 staff members in CSE by December 2017.
