Introducing the next generation to the many careers within the security industry.
SecuriGroup and Glasgow City Council have teamed up with youth charity, MCR Pathways, to provide local young people with an insight into the opportunities and careers available within the private security industry by facilitating a one-day 'Talent Taster.'
MCR Pathways is a school-based mentoring program enabling care-experienced and disadvantaged young people to get the same educational outcomes, career opportunities, and life chances as every other young person.
In its most recent report, MCR states that 86% of mentored leavers progress to a positive destination (full-time employment, further education or higher education) versus 51% of care-experienced non-mentored leavers.
The Talent Taster was hosted by Glasgow City Council and facilitated by SecuriGroup's Training & Development Manager, Rob Kennedy. The young people learned about the diverse opportunities across the three pillars of protective security; physical, personnel and cyber.
They each had a tour of Glasgow via the Council's state-of-the-art CCTV network and even had the opportunity to undertake basic close protection foot drills and formations.
SecuriGroup Managing Director, Russel Kerr commented:
"Having been a mentor myself for almost two years, I see first-hand how MCR Pathways is helping to transform lives.
We are extremely grateful to our colleagues at Glasgow City Council for supporting and enabling the Talent Taster, and we look forward to facilitating more sessions in the future."
