Microsoft has stopped general security updates for Windows 7 – and your systems may still be running on the vulnerable OS.
Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 earlier this year, opening the system up to exploitation. As a result, Windows 7 users will no longer receive the all-important security updates and patches that keep their machines safe.
SecuriGroup joins other cyber-security experts in urging our clients to identify any systems operating Windows 7 and to upgrade their operating system as soon as possible.
Many businesses have already made the switch – however their security systems may still be using the now-vulnerable Windows 7 operating system.
Even if you have updated your internal computers, your fire and security systems may also require the windows software upgrade meaning they are now highly vulnerable.
Have you checked if your fire or security equipment is using Windows 7?
The best practice guidance for businesses is to review their systems and upgrade as necessary – and SecuriGroup can do this for you.

We expect that the majority of our clients will have prepared their IT systems for the 14th of January Windows 7 end-of-life date.
However, we anticipate the likelihood that many businesses may not yet be aware that Windows 7 may still be operating on their security systems – such as CCTV recorder's or Access Control PCs – which may need to be updated separately.
These systems could provide a cyber attacker that key to gaining access to their wider network, and we want to make sure that doesn't happen.
SecuriGroup can offer full systems reviews on your current systems which includes how cyber secure your systems are. Contact us today for a full assessment of your protective security measures. Protect your organisation against cyber attack with SecuriGroup.
Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats. It is managed by the National Cyber Security Centre, which is a part of GCHQ.
The Government developed Cyber Essentials and its set of technical controls to help organisations protect themselves against common online security threats.
From 1 October 2014, Government requires all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme.
