UEFA Security Training in Amsterdam

SecuriGroup Events Manager, Jamie Storer, attended a high level UEFA training course in Amsterdam last week, designed to improve stadia and fan safety.

As part of a delegation for the Scottish Football Association (SFA), SecuriGroup continues to collaborate with UEFA and its member associations to develop best practice and contribute to effective safety and security strategies.

As a representative of SecuriGroup – and the leader of the events department responsible for stewarding Champions League fixtures, Olympic, and international football – it was an invaluable opportunity for Jamie Storer to share learning, initiatives, experience, and expertise across different associations.

The SFA were present alongside seven other national Associations: Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Malta, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales. The result of this course is that 22 out of 55 National Associations are now equipped to train stewards to a common standard.

Going forward, the innovative 'Train the Trainer' programme will enhance the capability of SecuriGroup as Jamie passes on shared best practice throughout the company's management and supervisory structure.

Building the abilities of event stewards to manage and respond to security situations in the European fixtures is a vital aspect of this approach, particularly considering the current security climate and emerging threats from international terrorism.

Part of a wider commitment from UEFA, the course is part of the implementation of its safety and security strategy over the next few years. The ultimate goal is ensuring that football stadiums are a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

SecuriGroup is proud to be part of this collaborative approach, ensuring that all precautions are taken, all threats mitigated and, most importantly, people feel safe and secure.

The experience has been very positive and a great opportunity to work with partner agencies to share and receive best working practices on a continental scale, coming together to address the difficult issues that we face.
